A constant fixture in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Milwaukee's East Side, Henry's first opened in 1982 as a part of the Coffe Trader, the first coffee shop in Milwaukee to feature an espresso machine. Although it's no longer in use, that espresso machine resides in the back bar room of Henry's to this day. Originally, Henry's was located on Downer Avenue in what is now home to Belair Cantina. In 1998, the Coffee Trader closed, but the gem that was Henry's remained open. At that time, Henry's was moved to its current location on Belleview Place. In 2007, then owner David Boxer decided to retire and Henry's shut its doors. Fearing that Henry's might close for good, a group of investors led by longtime Henry's bar tender Nader Pakroo (pictured left), stepped in to keep the Henry's tradition alive. Today, you can relive some of the remnants of Henry's storied past by enjoying several menu items that orignated from the Coffee Trader days, or by simply playing a game of backgammon or cribbage, or challenging the bar tender to a game of dice. Henry's. An East Side Tradition.
