Minx opened when there were few fashion options in Asheville, and Lexington Avenue was just beginning to blossom into the busy shopping destination it is today. Rebeccah Barrett hoped to clothe, adorn, provide for and empower the women of Asheville. We’ve been lucky enough to serve Asheville for 15 years, and we’ve been even luckier to be voted Best Women’s Clothing for WNC by the readers of the Mountain Xpress every year we’ve been open! For Minx, fashion is a way we express ourselves and tell a story, and each piece of clothing is an element in that story. Sometimes, that story is, “I’ve got a party tonight and would love something fresh, fun and new. What fabulous dress can I grab at Minx that makes me feel like a million bucks even when I only paid $30.” And sometimes the story is a little more complex. When we buy for the shop, we choose pieces that fit many different stories but still represent the Minx point of view. That story can be fresh and still reference timeless classics.
