A Travel and Tour in San Diego CA

The Mormon Battalion Historic Site's specialty is a free guided interactive tour experience. You will learn why members of the Mormon Faith were stranded on the plains of Iowa in 1846 and why, despite their difficult circumstance, the men volunteered to leave their families and embark on one of the longest Military marches in US History. You will experience what it would have been like to be part of that march from Council Bluffs Iowa to San Diego California. You will learn of the hopes, service, sacrifice, faith, and courage that these people exhibited along the march and after they arrived in California. They helps build up the city of San Diego, built buildings, wells, and established roads where only trails had existed, and even discovered gold at Sutter's Mill.
