NW Seismic Retrofit

Seismic retrofitting is the technical process of transferring the lateral loads generated in an earthquake from the house to the foundation. Or, in layman's terms, attaching a house to its foundation. This process involves more than just foundation bolting; shear panels and framing connectors must also be taken in to consideration when planning a retrofit in order to maintain a continuous load path from the house to the foundation.
