Welcome to South Tampa Jiu-Jitsu & MMA! We encourage a relaxed and friendly training environment with the goal of improving self-defense skills, physical conditioning, weight loss, and nutrition. A healthy lifestyle of physical activity including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and proper nutrition are what make up the BJJ Lifestyle. In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle, BJJ does what other martial arts claim to do: provide a path for a smaller, weaker person to defeat a larger, stronger opponent through leverage, timing, and deception! We use an elaborate sequence of movements to systematically break down our opponent’s defenses until we catch them in a submission forcing them to tap out. Here is the BJJ formula to success: Maximum Effectiveness = Minimum Effort. It’s truly Human Chess!
