Sawyer's House of Furniture

On September 1, 1955, C.L., Calvin, and William Sawyer began selling furniture in a small store. Long hours and hard work soon paid off. Over the years the store became larger and a warehouse was built behind the store. Adding to the furniture line we included electronics, small and major appliances, vacuum cleaners, gym sets, luggage, paint, oil heaters, wood heaters, gas heaters, carpet, vinyl, and car audio. In house financing was added also. The store was blessed with customers becoming friends and new generations would pass through its doors. By 1979,C.L.Sawyer retired from the company leaving Calvin and William to manage the store. Calvin retired in 1993. The year 1998 ,we built a 52,000 sq.ft. showroom and warehouse and moved in on January,1999. William's children, Bryant, Coston, Neill, and Karen Sawyer are currently managing the company and rental properties. Over 60 years have passed and multiple generations from the Albemarle and southeast Virginia have enjoyed quality brand name furnishings and our reasonable prices.
