The Burmese word “Thabarwa” comes from the Pali term “Sabhava”, referring to nature and natural law, which is the subject of the Buddha’s teaching. Sayadaw Ashin Ottamathara, the founder and leader of Thabarwa Centre, chose this name because the two kinds of nature according to Buddhism, impermanent nature and permanent nature, are including all phenomena, and Thabarwa Center is all-inclusive. Furthermore, the investigation of nature by observation of one’s own body and mind, known as Vipassana meditation, is the tradition of Buddha and his followers, carried on by the meditation teachers of the Buddhist country of Myanmar.
