Meet Ryan Henry, a brilliant freehand tattoo artist who has been hard at work perfecting his craft since 2009. It wasn’t long before the greats noticed his talent. In 2011 Ryan was chosen by one of the world’s most recognizable black tattoo artists, Miya Bailey, to help educate the public on the history of black tattoo culture and show the highly skilled artists who are creating a new culture today. The film, Color Outside The Lines: A Tattoo Documentary, released in 2012 and Ryan was given another platform outside of social media to showcase his gift. The following year Ryan created 9MAG and has since held the title of the top tattoo artist in Chicago. Because of the massive wave created by Ryan’s talent, satisfied clients and praise of fellow artists VH1 couldn’t help but to follow his journey on Black Ink Crew: Chicago.
