The Academy of Traditional Karate has grown over 25 years to become the destination for traditional Karate training in Massachusetts. In 1989 the Academy of Traditional Karate began as the Tewksbury Karate Academy in the Trahan Elementary School. In the next three years the Academy would move to its current location and grow to more than 250 students. In 1994 Todd and Kristen Keane visited Okinawa and trained with the founder of Shorin-Ryu, Shoshin Nagamine. In 1997 the Academy joined Shidokan International to certify instructor and student rank with the Japanese Ministry of Education. In 2005 the Academy was able to expand to a 6,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. In 2009 the Academy began working with the superintendent of Wilmington to teach bully safety and awareness seminars to students and teachers. Serving over 400 students ages 3 and up, the Academy of Traditional Karate is proud to be the premiere traditional Karate school in the area.
