Apple Wood Cafe

The GLEN PARK ART FESTIVAL is first and foremost about traditional forms of art, such as painting and jewelry making. But there’ll be edible art on hand, too, from some of Williamsville’s best restaurants, including the Irishman, Eagle House and Creekview. The Apple Wood Cafe (5385 Main St., 630-5950), which opened in May, is offering dishes such as its roasted pork belly sandwich. For $8, festival participants get slices of slow-roasted pork belly in a smoky rub, touched up with barbecue sauce, brown sugar and local maple syrup produced by the father of co-owner Becky Morgan. (Mike, her husband, is the chef.)The meat is piled onto a toasted brioche roll and topped with cole slaw that’s jazzed up with peppadew peppers. (The original, bigger sandwich is on the cafe’s menu for $14.)“Anybody that has had it has come back multiple times for it,” Morgan said of the sandwich. “We’ve had a really good response to it.” The third edition of the Williamsville event is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday along Glen Avenue, which crosses Glen Park and the creek at its heart.
