Burge's Restaurant

Alden Burge began smoking turkeys in his backyard smokehouse in Lewisville, Arkansas for friends and family after moving there from Shreveport in 1953. He worked in the local oil fields and soon his co-workers wanted him to smoke turkeys for them too. On Friday nights at his home in Lewisville, he began making barbeque chickens, baked beans and coleslaw and selling it before ball games.
