Our bodies speak to us. We carry the lives we lead in a physical manner, adapting to stressors both physical and emotional in ways that compromise our comfort, functioning, and health. These adaptations can often lead to muscle and postural imbalances that can become ingrained, restrictive, and even painful. Massage therapy is the hands-on therapeutic manipulation of the soft tissues of the body through touch, pressure, and movement and is based on the western principles of anatomy and physiology. While specific techniques vary, each focuses on the muscular, fascial, and connective tissues relative to how they support and move the body. Massage therapy not only eases muscle tension and soreness, but can lead to progressive improvement in muscle balance, function, posture, and flexibility. The benefits of massage aren't merely physical however, and massage is unique in it's ability to enhance our emotional well-being, and is a powerful tool in managing stress-related disorders. Neil incorporates Swedish relaxation, deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and other neuromuscular techniques in an integrative approach to relieving pain and dysfunction. Working with depth and specificity, he specializes in muscle imbalances of the low back/hip/pelvis and shoulder girdle/neck/head. Neil is also certified in pre and postnatal massage therapy.
