Nelson Smith and Terry Wells had just purchased 200+ acres of what used to be the Mount Vernon Bible College. With high hopes of building a premier public golf course, construction began in 1994. On June 15, 1996, the dream became a reality as Chapel Hill Golf Course opened its doors to the public.
