Established in 1976. Lapidary Arts was founded by Rick Otte--just after graduation from Baylor University. He taught the art of stone cutting (Lapidary Arts) for several years before graduating. He then moved to Dallas and opened his first store in Olla Podrida (an artisan's mall). His designs were very popular, and he opened several more stores in the mall specializing in custom jewelry, silver jewelry, and loose stones. When that venue closed, he moved his business north to Plano, where he has been in the same location for 21+ years.
