Nicola Borland Photography

After graduating from The Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, and moving to LA, Nicola had several different jobs. Her first was as an assistant on large production photo shoots for a lighting and grip company. She worked on ads for Motorola and several major car companies. Although this was fun, it was not the role she really wanted. She worked as a manger for a mall style kids portrait studio, and then as an assistant in a large photography stock agency. While working for other people Nicola was always photographing on the side, for friends and their referrals. She was asked to shoot her first wedding when the main photographer did not show up! That was a real surprise. But from then on she had the bug and when the stock agency was bought and the staff liquidated, Nicola decided she had had enough of working for other people and started Nicola Borland Photography in 2008. It's been a fun ride since then!
