Palermo’s of 63rd Street has been serving the Chicagoland area for over 45 years. Palermo’s of 63rd Street was opened in 1961 by Antonino and Carmela (Tirrito) Caldarone and their children Benedetto (Ben), Giuseppe (Joe), Ignazio (Frank), and Maria (Lia) shortly after immigrating from Italy. The 63rd Street location began as a small, mainly take-out restaurants located at 63rd Street and Maplewood. The pizza and spaghetti sauces were and are a treasured recipe of the Tirrito family, which boasts among its ancestors an acclaimed 18th century painter-poet, Fr. Fedele Tirrito-Palermo.
