About Rock and Soul Founded in 1975, Rock and Soul is one of New York City's longest standing independent record stores, and is among the oldest and most famous DJ shops in the world. We're proud to have served industry legends and pioneers like Grandmaster Caz, Grandmaster Flash, Cool Herk, DJ Red Alert, Grand Wizard Theodore, Tony Touch, DJ Skribble and so many others, some of whom continue to shop with us and even play at our events.
