Salick's Karate

Established in 1980.When Salick's opened its doors in 1980, we chose an unlikely place: a 100 year-old Delafield creamery nestled on the Bark River. From the beginning, we wanted a school where learning was fun, especially for kids. We wanted a school that felt like home. We began with classes that were innovative and different. Night workouts, in the early years, were often held by firelight, lit by the massive stone fireplace that still dominates the training room. After a fresh snow, we sometimes threw on boots and parkas and trained outside. A huge German Shepherd named Moose thought he was a member of the kid's class. A pet ferret--and later, a blue and gold macaw-- greeted people at the door. Now, Salick's Karate is one of Delafield's oldest businesses. We've been teaching martial arts longer than any school in the area. Parents who were themselves young students years ago, now bring their own kids down. And to all of them, we still feel like home.
