Scott's Barbecue, a Cochran landmark for more than half a century, was first opened by James "Scott" Mullis and his wife, Christine in 1952. With the help of their whole family, they developed and fine-tuned the recipes for many of the dishes that are still served today at the restaurant. Twenty-one years later, Scott's nephew, Roy Mullis, and his wife, Lillian, took over, expanding the menu and satisfying customers for more than 26 years. Again, family members played a key role in the success of the business. Carrying on the family tradition now are Doug and Tracee Kitchens (daughter of Roy and Lillian), who are committed to keeping the same great food and service. Through the years of growth, what has not changed is the dedication to serving delicious food to generations of people who have become family.
