Skydiving at Pepperell Airport began in the late 1950's. The first commercial drop zone at Pepperell was opened in 1971 by Ted Strong of Strong Enterprises. Over the years a number of other owners kept the skydiving business going. In 1991 the current owners began running the operation and soon after Skydive Pepperell obtained a 21 place Twin Otter aircraft on a full-time basis. The 60+ acre airport has been attentively groomed to provide a lush grassy landing area that is flat and free of obstacles. Skippy's Drop-In Cafe provides food and beverages to the crowd throughout the day. The Parachute Shop, which is located on-site, provides a climate controlled rigging loft and gear store for jumper convenience. The skydiving season runs seven days per week from May 1st to October 31st weather permitting. During the off season, the office is open limited hours for business matters.
