My StoryI was introduced to photography when I was a junior in high school where we provided Nikon film cameras so we didn't have to purchase our own. I learned to develop my own film, process my own black and white prints and the basics of composition, aperture and shutter speed. (That exposure triangle was tough....) I honestly thought I was the stuff because I nailed the "motion" assignment. I was challenged to "freeze" the subject in my frame while blurring the background, thus showing the subject was in motion. Boy I wish I still had that picture.
Fast forward about 5 years to college. I was again offered the chance to get behind a camera. This time it was my own Nikon my parents purchased for me. We were still processing our own film and prints; something I don't think I ever really forgot how to do. I was taught studio lighting, advanced composition, more exposure triangle and how to gain connection with your subject. I began carrying my camera around with me more often than not. My college roommates and my horseback riding friends graciously became my subjects. (Bless them....) I can still remember some of those images. After I graduated college, I put my camera away for a time. I really didn't have any interest in shooting as I was working my first real job trying to become an adult. In 2005, I got married and 3 year later became pregnant with our first daughter. I convinced my husband to purchase me my first DSLR, my Nikon D3100. Boy I loved that thing! I began taking photos of my sweet little one. That summer, my college roommate came for a visit and asked me to take some photos of her family. The rest is history as they say. I really haven't stopped clicking my camera since. I've learned so much and met so many amazing people on this journey. I love the relationships I've made with my clients, the babies I've seen grow in front of my lens and the LOVE I've been able to capture over the last 8 years.
