After Swift Meat Packing acquired the Union Meat Company in 1907, Kenton was born a company town with a big dream: to become the meat packing center of the Pacific Coast. By 1958, the neighborhood had grown into a modern-day meat utopia, making Portland the leader of the West Coast cattle trade. Today, the original spirit of Kenton returns with Swift and Union, a casual pub-style restaurant by Ken “Zig” Naffziger who also created Tabor Tavern in 2012.
