The Cutting Edge Hair Spa

The Cutting Edge Hair Spa opened in 2004 as a single chair salon in Donita and John's garage with 3 dryers and one shampoo bowl . It was a truly family affair. Fallon and Denver Smith worked as the salon assistants, and John helped manage and maintain the daily upkeep of the salon daily and Donita took on clients by referral only until the business had outgrown its space. Before bringing her business home, Donita had worked in at least 11 salons in the Washington, DC area as an independent booth renter. Over the last 20 years, with the support of her family and friends, Donita has built a successful clientele that has become more like family. These clients have supported and encouraged Donita to pursue her dreams of becoming a salon owner and educator.
