Chef Jason Marcus was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in northern NJ to a family of food-lovers. After obtaining a degree in Philosophy and Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond, Jason pursued his passion for cooking, professionally, and has worked in various Michelin-starred and highly-rated restaurants in NYC and California, such as Manresa, Judson Grill, Le Bernardin, and Eleven Madison Park, among others. Jason has also traveled and cooked extensively throughout Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, Mexico and most recently Morocco. Traif's menu concept allows Jason to work in a sandbox where pork and shellfish are his sand, and his experience and passion for various global cuisines provide the tools for turning the sand into art. Food experiences are some of his most cherished memories. His goal at Traif is to share these with guests and leave them with lasting and soul-warming food memories.
